Levy + SumUp: Streamlining Staff Welfare Meals at the OVO Hydro

Levy UK + Ireland, part of Compass Group, manages catering at some of the UK’s largest sporting and entertainment venues, including the SEC and OVO Hydro in Glasgow. Working with Caterlytix, Levy implemented an integrated system that used SumUp POS Pro tills and the Tali reporting platform to accurately manage staff meal allocations, safeguard welfare, and prevent misuse—while ensuring staff data was clean, current, and compliant.

The OVO Hydro is one of Scotland’s busiest arenas, hosting world-class music, sport, and entertainment events. Behind the scenes, hundreds of Levy staff work each day to provide outstanding guest experiences. As part of Levy’s welfare commitment, these staff members are entitled to meals during their shifts.

Before working with Caterlytix, the process of recording and managing staff meals was manual, inconsistent, and open to abuse. Without a reliable way to track allocation, there was no visibility into which staff members were accessing their meals, who might be missing out, and where duplicate meals might be taken. Levy needed a robust, automated system to ensure fairness, protect welfare, and maintain financial control.

Caterlytix integrated the SumUp POS Pro tills with Tali, a reporting and allocation platform, to provide a seamless solution. Staff records were cleansed, imported, and kept continuously up to date within Tali, which synced with SumUp tills at designated catering points. A daily credit allocation system was introduced, giving each staff member a set balance to use on-site. Unused credits were swept at the end of each day, with new allocations automatically applied for the next shift.

This not only provided Levy with detailed visibility and reporting on staff welfare but also reduced opportunities for error or misuse. Alongside the technical integration, Caterlytix supported Levy with data migration, staff communications, and ongoing data quality management to ensure the system continued to run smoothly.

"The integration of SumUp with Tali has transformed the way we manage staff meals. It gives us complete visibility, ensures fairness, and provides the confidence that welfare allocations are accurate and well controlled."

Closing Statement

By implementing this integrated system at the SEC and OVO Hydro, Levy has ensured that staff welfare meals are managed transparently, efficiently, and fairly. With accurate reporting, automated allocations, and ongoing support from Caterlytix, Levy can continue to focus on delivering world-class hospitality to guests while ensuring its staff are looked after behind the scenes.
